Arch Linux - how to check for reduntant packages

24 Jul 2020

It is advisable to check from time to time for reduntant packages in your Arch Linux system. First of all, they generate unnecessary traffic when you run upgrades, they also take some disk space. There is a single command that checks for packages installed as dependencies and currently no other packages depend on them:

click code to copy
sudo pacman -Qtd

This will list all such packages for you to decide which of them to remove from the system.

Tested on: Endeavour OS, June 2020.
